Revenue Without Rush: Building a Life (and Income) Without Burning Out3 min read

Every once in a while, a book begins in a slightly unusual way.

Not in isolation.
Not behind a closed office door.

But in conversation.

That’s what’s happening right now with my next book:

Revenue Without Rush: How to Build Your Life in 10 Years or Less.

Instead of disappearing for two years to write it quietly, I’m building many of the ideas out loud during Open Friday Coffee.

Each Friday we gather for a calm, curious conversation about rebuilding life after things have burned down a bit whether it be financially, emotionally, relationally, spiritually… sometimes all at once.

During the first 10–15 minutes I share a short teaching.

Sometimes it’s a concept that will likely become part of the book.
Sometimes it’s a question someone asked the previous week.
And sometimes it’s a small reframe that suddenly makes life feel more workable again.

After that we open the room for conversation.

Questions.
Stories.
Shared wisdom.

And every now and then someone says something that makes me quietly think:

“Well… that’s going in the next chapter.”

The Quiet Structure Behind the Book

The heart of Revenue Without Rush is simple.

Most people try to rebuild their lives by pushing harder and moving faster.

But the lives that actually hold together long-term are usually built a different way.

Slowly.
Deliberately.
With a structure that supports the human being living inside it.

At Open Friday Coffee we work with three words:

Restore — what is already yours
Renew — your energy, rhythm, and trust
Reform — your life structure so it doesn’t burn you again

Those ideas are forming the backbone of the new book.

The Reading Community

Alongside the weekly conversations, a smaller group gathers inside OFC Access+.

This is where the recordings live, along with my Placemat Procedures, reflections, and some of the early thinking that doesn’t always make it into the public conversation.

It’s also where my beta readers tend to gather.

These are the curious souls who enjoy seeing ideas before they are polished…
and occasionally raising their hand to say,

“Janine… that chapter might need a little more work.”

Which is exactly the kind of feedback a writer appreciates.

So if you’ve ever wondered what it looks like to watch a book take shape from the inside out, that’s essentially what we’re doing.

This conversation tends to resonate with people who are:

• rebuilding after a financial setback
• starting over in midlife
• solopreneurs who are tired of hustle culture
• thoughtful people who want a life that actually holds together long-term

If that sounds like you, you’ll probably feel right at home at Open Friday Coffee.

A Messy Book

The funny thing about writing books after twenty years of teaching is that the ideas rarely arrive in perfect order.

They appear in conversations.
In questions.
In the quiet moments when someone says,

“I think I’m ready to rebuild my life… but I don’t want to burn out again.”

That’s the spirit behind Revenue Without Rush.

A calmer way forward.

And if you’d like to sit in the room while the ideas take shape…

You’re always welcome to join us for Open Friday Coffee.

Pull up a chair.
Bring your coffee.

We’re building something thoughtful together.
